Riverside Medical Centre is a friendly; busy Practice based in a semi-rural area, with a Practice population of approximately 6,900 covering all age ranges. There are three GP Partners in the Practice: Dr Colm Donnelly, Dr Sylvia Conner and Dr Jonathan Rouse and one part-time salaried GP: Dr Peter Cornes.
The Practice is highly respected amongst the community of Hullbridge, who in turn have supported us with the procurement of medical equipment over the years, which has included an ultrasound machine and an external defibrillator, as well as smaller items of equipment that has enabled more diagnostic treatment to be undertaken.
The Practice operates under a PMS contract and has achieved high points under the new Quality and Outcome Framework in the first year of the new GP Contract.
The Practice has an excellent communication network, which is facilitated by regular meetings that are minuted and circulated electronically.
Riverside Medical Centre became a 'Training Practice' in 2001. It is the philosophy of the Partners to fully support the GP Registrars throughout their training, within an environment that promotes open discussion and active participation in all aspects of general practice. The dedicated GP Registrars room has the most up-to-date, unobtrusive video equipment for recording consultations, and a comprehensive training room and library exist to complete the facilities available to the GP Registrar during their period with the Practice; Dr Sylvia Conner is the GP Trainer.
This year Dr Jonathan Rouse has taken on the role of training and teaching medical students from the Royal London/Barts Hospital.
The Specialist Nurses within the Practice conduct a comprehensive Disease Management Programme, which includes Diabetes, Hypertension, CHD (Coronary Heart Disease) and Asthma.
A fully equipped Minor Operations Room is available where the Partners routinely undertake a range of procedures.
Regular clinics are held which cover Family Planning, Menopause, Travel and Childhood immunisations. In addition, the services of antenatal care are supported by a visiting Midwife and a Counsellor is available one day a week for those patients requiring support; a dedicated weekly Phlebotomy clinic completes the services available.
The Practice also has equipment to perform 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure recording and R-Test monitoring.
