Practice Nurses

We have three fully trained Practice Nurses who each have their own specialities.
We have a fully trained specialist nurse to support our non-insulin dependent diabetic patients and also patients with hypertension, with particular emphasis on coronary heart disease prevention. She also performs many of the surgery procedures carried out in the practice.
We also have a highly trained asthma nurse who supports all the asthmatic patients. She is also trained to advise and counsel on family planning matters.
Our fully trained menopause nurse holds regular clinics for women who are interested in the menopause. She also supports women who take hormone replacement therapy.
All the nurses deal regularly with the following:
| Baby Immunisations | General treatment of minor injuries |
| Travel immunisation advice | ECG tests |
| Cervical smears | Flu vaccinations (Oct/Nov) |
| Wound dressings | Ear syringing |
| Removal of sutures | Blood pressure checks |
| Routine injections | Weight monitoring |
| Blood tests | Smoking cessation advice |
| Hearing tests | Alcohol consumption advice |
| Advice on childhood rashes and infections |
The Practice Manager
Our practice manager is responsible for the day to day management of the practice and will be able to help you with any non-medical or administrative aspect of your healthcare.
Reception/Administrative Staff
As in every surgery, the Reception/administrative staff perform the most difficult task of all. Our staff are here to help you and to see that the doctors are fully informed. So if they need to ask you several questions, it is to ensure that they can assist you as speedily and fully as possible. Our staff are fully trained and attend on-going training programmes and are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as the doctors and nurses.
The Medical Secretary
Our medical secretary is responsible for dealing with all the practice correspondence. She handles all hospital referrals, chases outpatient appointments and checks the availability of inpatient beds.
GP Registrars
A GP Registrar is attached to the practice most years. He/she is a fully qualified doctor who, having spent a number of years in appropriate hospital posts, is in the final year of the Vocational Training Scheme for General Practice. This doctor carries out identical duties to those of the partners in the practice.
Attached Professionals
Our Community Midwife holds an antenatal clinic every Wednesday from 2:30 pm. Appointments will be made for you at Reception. However, mums-to-be can always contact a midwife through the hospital maternity clerk if they have any worries or questions.
Our District Nurse visits the surgery regularly. She or one of her colleagues is always able to be contacted through the hospital when needed by any of our patients in the community.
The practice works in close liaison with the health visitors and the schools nurse, who are based at the Hullbridge Clinic just across the road.
